Information Session on Creating an Inclusive and Supporting Online Learning Environment From ACUE Set for Sept. 7

August 31, 2021 - Santa Fe College is excited to offer its faculty the opportunity to participate in and pursue a Certificate in Effective College Instruction, the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE). We have offered the entire course (25 modules) over an academic year in the past but will be offering micro-courses (6 to 7 modules) this upcoming year. The fall 2021 offering is Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Online Learning Environment, focused on learning and implementing research-based teaching practices, each shown to improve student success. The course will be professionally facilitated and delivered online with a cohort of faculty members, with whom you will share insights and ideas. The course schedule is below.

Deadlines and Application Information

  • Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Online Learning Environment will begin Monday, Sept. 27 and end Sunday, Nov. 21
  • The pace is about one module per week, requiring 2-3 hours of activity
  • Interested faculty are encouraged to apply by Monday, Sept. 13
  • Notification of selection will be sent on Tuesday, Sept. 14

Participants will be selected based on 1) interest level and 2) alignment of professional goals to the institution's goals for improving student success.

Upon successful completion of each micro-course, you will earn a microcredential. This digital badge can be added to your curriculum vitae, used in online teaching portfolios, and displayed on LinkedIn profiles or webpages as a sign of your achievement. Santa Fe College faculty are  strongly encouraged to pursue completion of all microcredentials to earn the nationally recognized Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
