Fall Convocation Will Feature Both Live and Remote Viewing Opportunities

August 13, 2021

August 13, 2021 – Santa Fe College will open the 2021-2022 academic year with fall convocation to be held in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall on Friday, Aug. 20, beginning at 9 a.m. Because of the evolving situation presented by the Delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in consultation with local health officials, President Paul Broadie II and the SF Executive Leadership team have made the decision to limit seating within the hall to 20% of its capacity. The college will also provide a live stream of the event in the newly remodeled Lyceum, which will also be limited to 20% of its capacity. Employees can also choose to watch the live stream from their home or work computer. The college recently announced that in light of the new pandemic numbers, everyone is requested to wear a mask, regardless of their vaccination status.

The college is also offering a limited supply of Subway gift cards and select promotional items while supplies last. Attendance in the Fine Arts Hall, or the Lyceum is not required to obtain the Subway coupon or the promotional items, and details on how to receive those items will be forthcoming.

Convocation will feature student stories, updates from both Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, recognition of employee service to the college, celebration of employees receiving awards and a special guest speaker who will deliver an inspirational message regarding growth mindset, grit, and navigating the changing landscape of higher education. President Broadie will discuss exciting new initiatives the college is planning for the coming year including the Center for Teaching and Learning and SF Achieve.

In order to plan for this event, any SF faculty or staff member who wishes to attend should register on the Fine Arts department's Showpass page at https://www.showpass.com/convocation-2021 prior to Wednesday, Aug. 18. Once the 20% capacity limit has been reached, tickets will no longer be available. When you register, you will be able to request a seat either in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall or the Lyceum.
