SF Brain Bowl Team Places Second in National Tournament

March 1, 2021

March 1, 2021 – Over the weekend, the Santa Fe College Brain Bowl team competed in the NAQT Community College Championship Tournament for the national championships. The team consisting of Matthew Gilinson, Alejandro Jimenez-Tellado, Alexa Rivers, and Mason Sexton went undefeated for 9 rounds of intense competition before falling to Jefferson Community College (Louisville, Kentucky) in the final round. Complete final standings are available at naqt.com/stats/tournament/standings.jsp?tournament_id=11803.

SF had two team members in the top 10 individual standings. Matthew Gilinson was sixth overall, and Alejandro Jimenez-Tellado ended in 10th place.

Because the SF was the tournament runner-up, the team received an invite to compete in the national championships for colleges and universities which will be held in early April. Later this month, the team will compete in the Florida-State Championship tournament.
