Deadline to Vote in November's Election is Monday, Oct. 5

September 28, 2020

September 28, 2020 – The deadline to register to vote in the November election is Monday, Oct. 5. Florida law required all voters to be registered 29 days before an election in order to be eligible to vote. You must also be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of Florida and a legal resident of the county in which you are registering.

If you are a Florida resident, you can check your voter registration status by visiting the Voter Information Lookup page on the Florida Department of State website. By entering your first and last name, as well as your date of birth, you will be able to find out if you are registered to vote. You will also be able to see in what county you are registered.

If you are not registered to vote, and you meet the legal requirements to vote in the state of Florida, you can visit registertovoteflorida.gov to register. Residents of other states can visit vote.org to look up their status.

There are many ways to vote. You can vote on Election Day – Tuesday, Nov. 3 – where polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Early voting in Florida begins Monday, Oct. 19 and you can also vote by mail, by requesting a ballot from your county's Supervisor of Elections office.

Because elections are handled at the county level, each county may have slight variations on specific hours and locations for early voting or drop-off locations for vote-by-mail ballots. You may be able to get the information you need by contacting either the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections at votealachua.com, or the Bradford County Supervisor of Elections at bradfordelections.com. Any student, faculty or staff member who lives outside SF's service district should reach out to their particular county's Supervisor of Elections office.
