Hurricane Isaias Tracks Toward East, Rain and Wind Possible for SF Service District
July 31, 2020
July 31, 2020 – Santa Fe College administration and the SF Emergency Management team are continuing to follow the track of Hurricane Isaias as its track heads toward the Florida peninsula. At the 8 a.m. Friday advisory, the National Hurricane Center is reporting that Isaias has sustained winds of 80 mph and is moving northwest at 17 mph.
Isaias, the ninth named storm of the 2020 hurricane season, strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane as it passed over Hispaniola and forecasters say it is possible it may strengthen to a Category 2 as it approaches Florida. Although the current track of the storm may limit its effect on the Santa Fe College service district, college officials stress that we should always remain vigilant, prepare necessary supplies and listen to the recommendations from the National Weather Service.
SF employees can go to eStaff, while students can utilize eSantaFe to verify that their emergency contact information is up to date.
Even if Isaias avoids our general area, the SF Weather Alerts page has valuable information on hurricane preparation including tracking data from the National Hurricane Center and basic disaster supply kit information from ready.gov.
