Santa Fe College Releases Exposure Protocol Document
July 16, 2020
July 16, 2020 – As Santa Fe College prepares for some onsite instruction for the fall term, college administration has released a COVID-19 Exposure protocol that details the college's plan in the event of a COVID-19 positive individual being on college property and potentially exposing others to the pandemic.
Since shifting to online instruction and student services in March, the college has enacted policies and protocols to mitigate risk and enhance health and safety measures at the college. The college's COVID-19 Protocol webpage provides information to students, faculty and staff concerning the requirements for daily-self assessments – both before arriving on SF property and throughout the day, instructions for cleaning work areas, the SF face-covering protocol and other measures that will mark the new normal at the college.
The new exposure protocol follows CDC guidelines on the definition of exposure, which requires close contact of less than six feet for a duration of 15 minutes or longer, and accounts for other variables as well. Procedures are in place for both students and employees and the exposure protocol lays out the steps that must be taken before a COVID-19 positive individual will be allowed to return to any SF property.
Currently, SF has no plans to delay the start of the fall term, which begins Aug. 24. The college anticipates approximately 25% of the fall courses to be held in person, with the majority of the courses online or some form of a hybrid course.
