Greatest Animals of the Galapagos
Location: 1,000 Km off Ecuador's coast | Consists of: 13 major islands and 6 smaller islands
- Penguins. They have been able to adapt living in warm waters. Only penguins in the world who live along the Equator.
- Marine Iguanas. They eat only algae. Only iguanas that can swim and forage under water.
- Galapagos tortoise. They can live up to 152 years old. They rest up to 16 hours per day.
- Galapagos Sea Lion. They swim in the ocean to catch fish but prefer to hang close to shore.
- Whale Shark. It is the largest shark on the planet. They eat only tiny critters so humans can swim close to them.
- Blue-Footed Bird. They have blue feet and the bluer the better
- Sally Lightfoot Crab. They are coast scavengers and help the Galapagos' ecosystem because they help keep the shore clean.
- Hammerhead Shark. They swim in giant shark schools. They can get tan.
