SF Baseball: Herndon Named Region 8 Player of the Week
February 12, 2020
February 12, 2020 – Freshman left fielder Nick Herndon earned Baseball Player of the Week honors by the Florida College System Activities Association and National Junior College Athletic Association Region 8. The award highlights a baseball player who made significant contributions to their team Feb. 3 - 9.
The Saints baseball team has been having a great start to the season, already on a hot nine-game win streak, with Herndon heavily involved in those victories.
During those dates listed, the Thomasville, Georgia native batted .545 (18-for-33) with 11 runs scored – four doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 RBI in eight games. He also hit safely in all eight games he appeared in, helping the Saints to seven wins.
Herndon had five straight multi-hit games during the stretch, including 3-for-3 versus Hillsborough Community College and 4-for-4 versus South Georgia State College in consecutive games and was also 4-for-5 with a home run against Tallahassee Community College.
"Nick has done a great job at the top of the lineup for us early this spring," stated Saints head coach Johnny Wiggs. "He has a knack for getting on base and coming up with the big hit. We will need him to continue as we head toward conference play and the tough competition we will face."
Herndon and the Saints (10-2) play at home Friday, Feb. 14, against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
