February 11, 2020 – This spring, the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is joining Gorilla SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) and the Gorilla Species Survival Plan for Gorillas on the Line…Answer the Call! This global program aims to increase the recycling of cell phones and small electronics in an effort to protect habitats for gorillas and other wildlife in Central Africa, where materials are mined. The SF Teaching Zoo was recently featured on WCJB TV-20 talking about protecting gorilla habitats.

Now through April 30, you can recycle smartphones, cell phones, iPods, iPads, tablets and mp3 players as well as the chargers and accessories that come with them at the SF Teaching Zoo gift shop. You can also recycle those items at Alachua County Public Works, Life Unplastic and the Repurpose Project. Thank you for helping us answer the call.
