SF Women's Basketball: Saints Overpower Elite Sports in Win
January 30, 2020
January 30, 2020 – The Santa Fe Saints women's basketball team cruised to an easy victory over the Elite Sports Prep Vixens at home Wednesday with a 148-44 score.
The game was controlled by the Saints after the Vixens scored the first basket of the game - their only lead all night. The half ended with the Saints heading into the locker room with a large double-digit gap that increased with every quarter. The 104 points between both teams set a new Saints record beating the 83-point margin that was set earlier this season.
"Every player scored, and we had seven players in double figures," said SF head coach Chanda Stebbins. "Teagan Rothrock had 20 points on 10-for-12 from the field. This offensive efficiency narrowly misses Pauline Zaveckaite's record for the best field goal percentage in school history which was 10-for-11."
Other records were set during the game.
The team also beat their own record of most points scored in a game by scoring 148, previous best was also against Elite Sports at the same November 6 game with 136. The Saints were led by their bench who scored 102 out of the record-setting 148 points.
Camille Pringle had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 12 points, Danasia Bogle also had a double of 18 points and 10 assists. Jayde Doucette set a career-high of 18 points.
The Saints shot 65% from the field, every player on the Saints active roster scored and no one played more than 20 minutes.
Stebbins added, "It was great to get the whole team action and meaningful minutes during a win. I am happy for players like Jayde, Patricia (Njeanwobe), and Alexis (Smith) who really stuck to it and had a chance to cash in on their work. Hopefully, this will serve as a good springboard into our off weekend and then a big match up against Jacksonville a week from today."
The Saints (14-10, 4-1 MFC) will prepare for their next conference match at home against conference foe Florida State College at Jacksonville Wednesday, Feb 5. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m.
