April 19, 2019
April 19, 2019 – The National Weather Service is calling for an enhanced risk of severe storms across north and central Florida today. Rainfall of 1 inch is expected with localized areas getting 2 to 3 inches which may lead to minor flooding. There is also a wind advisory for the region from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Winds will be coming out of the south to southwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. The storm is expected to produce damaging wind gusts and there is the possibility of isolated tornadoes.
If a tornado warning is issued, you should move to a lower-level interior room that does not have windows and shelter in place until word is given that the threat has passed. For additional information about tornado safety, visit https://www.ready.gov/tornadoes. If you are unsure about a safe location in your work environment, please contact the SF Police Department at 5519 for assistance.
Santa Fe College is open and there are no plans at this point to close the college or cancel any classes. We encourage all SF students, faculty and staff to take whatever precautionary measures they feel necessary to ensure their safety.
