Message for SF Faculty and Staff from the Counseling Center
April 1, 2019
April 1, 2019 – In the wake of recent suicides, the Santa Fe College Counseling Center respectfully requests that faculty and staff please be attentive to what may be going on with your students in and out of the classroom. Some warning signs you may notice include: unexplained absences, failing grades, dramatic weight changes, frequent health complaints, social isolation, loss of interest, changes in hygiene and personal appearance, reports of sleep problems or students sharing personal struggles with depression or trauma.
If you notice any of these, please talk to your students about your concerns. Share resources like the Counseling Center 352-395-5508 and the Alachua County Crisis Center 352-264-6789, walk them over to the Counseling Center in Building R, Room 227 or do all of them.
The Counseling Center offers QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training designed to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training to faculty, staff and students. Please consider calling the Counseling Center at 352-395-5508 to schedule a training for your department.
