SF Volleyball: Saints Win Twice Saturday, Improve to 10-0

September 10, 2018 – The No. 14 NJCAA nationally ranked Santa Fe College volleyball team knocked off Central Florida and Eastern Florida Saturday to go to 10-0 on the season. Saturday's matches end a streak of four matches in seven days.
In the first match of the day, the Saints won a 5-set thriller against College of Central Florida 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 15-7. Aspen Dangren led SF with 16, while Ocala native Leah Wilcox added 13. As a team, the Saints had a strong blocking effort with 15 blocks.
In the second match against Eastern Florida, the Saints controlled the match from the start with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-12 rout.
Wilcox led the way this time with 12 kills. Middle blocker, Brooke Ruud hit an astounding .500 hitting percentage on 16 attempts. The Saints tallied 8 more blocks to finish with 23 on the day.
"We have been working very hard on blocking all week, and it really paid off this weekend," said Head Coach Nick Cheronis. "We have a couple of weeks to finish our preparation for conference, so this will be a critical time in our development."
The Saints have off until Saturday, when they will travel to St. Petersburg for a pair of games against St. Petersburg College and State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. SF will begin their longest road stint of the season, with six contests away from home. Their next home game won't come until Thursday, Oct. 4, against Florida State College Jacksonville.
