SF Baseball: Saints Need Extra Innings to Top Daytona 7-6

April 12, 2018 – The NJCAA No. 1 Santa Fe Saints went on the road and won another tight game Wednesday afternoon, 7-6 in 11 innings over Daytona State. The game would go back and forth through the first seven innings with the game tied 6-6 at the end of seven. Both teams went scoreless in the eighth, ninth and 10th innings.

The Saints scored the eventual winning run in the top of the 11th after Andrew Eyster walked, Haydn Cano sacrificed him to second, and Brock Edge knocked him with a two out single.

Garrett Mathes (6-0) earned his sixth win with three scoreless innings. Tyler Jones also came up big throwing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to keep the Saints in the game.

Brock Edge finished with four hits and Kyler Marquis had three. Mikey Navarrete, Eyster, and Cade Westbrook had two hits each and SF had 14 hits as a team.

SF improves to 34-6 overall and 15-2 in conference. Their next game will be Friday, April 13, against FSCJ in Jacksonville.
