March 29, 2018 – Santa Fe College hosted area elementary and middle school students during their spring break as a part of SF’s College for Kids Space Challenge. The program was featured during Wednesday evening’s newscast on WCJB TV-20.

This year’s theme, “Black Holes and Beyond”, encouraged students in grades 4-8 to think outside the box while exploring the space frontier through hands-on, interactive team activities. Students learned about the scientific method and the design engineering process to solve problems in a way that computers and robots might not be able to do.

Students began each day at the SF Kika Silva Pla Planetarium, where planetarium coordinator James Albury conducted tours of the universe using the latest full-dome digital projection system.

SF’s CFK also offers a summer program with over 70 courses taught by highly qualified instructors. Summer camps are offered at three different locations: SF College Northwest Campus in Gainesville, the Andrews Center in Starke and the Super Science Camp at the Watson Center in Keystone Heights.

They also offer a Counselor in Training (CIT) Leadership Program for teens ages 15-18 years old wanting to gain leadership training and volunteer hours.
