January 29, 2018 – Dr. Dan Rodkin, associate vice president for Student Affairs at Santa Fe College, has been selected to be a participant in the 2018 Community College Administrators Seminar in Russia. The seminar is a Fulbright Program designed to strengthen and promote international cooperation. It focuses on the role of community colleges in higher education and the local community. For two weeks, participants will exchange knowledge and best practices with Russian administrators in postsecondary education and lay the groundwork for institutional relationships and collaborations.

Dr. Rodkin, who has had a significant impact in increasing the number of international students at SF, will pursue a broader understanding of the higher education systems in Russia and the U.S., and how the development of each reflects the greater socioeconomic and political environment in which they exist.

Dr. Rodkin will return to SF and lead a roundtable discussion for students pursuing the International Studies Certificate at the college. In addition, during International Education Week in November 2018, he will hold public presentations on campus highlighting his experiences abroad. He hopes to develop meaningful connections with administrators in Russia that will lead to new international cooperation agreements.

"I am certain that Dan will develop meaningful connections with higher education administrators in this Fulbright program," said Dr. Naima Brown, vice president of Student Affairs at SF. "We hope that there will be opportunities for Russian faculty and students to visit Santa Fe College and for our students and faculty to visit Russia."

The program runs from March 31 – April 14 and will begin in Moscow. There will also be visits to universities in at least two of the following cities: Kazan, Pskov, Velikiy Novgorod, Samara and Ulyanovsk.
