Becoming a Robotics Engineer: Insight from the Industry

January 18, 2018

Dr. Phillip Pinon led an in-depth workshop on robotics for students in the SF Engineering Club.

January 18, 2018 - Santa Fe College students recently participated in a workshop on engineering and robotics. On Friday, Jan. 12, Dr. Phillip Pinon led the informative and in-depth workshop for students in the SF Engineering Club. The students were exposed to an overview of the usage of robots in the industry, as well as some fundamental concepts in robotics. Dr. Pinon then illustrated some of the challenges of automation and provided students with a hands-on activity. The teams took control of a model robot to perform a pickup task under a time constraint. The presentation concluded with some insights on the very high demand for robotics engineers, and the educational and professional paths currently available.
