Saints Men’s and Women’s Teams Pick Up Road Wins in Daytona

January 11, 2018 – The FCSAA No. 10 Santa Fe Saints women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in Mid-Florida Conference play Wednesday evening in Daytona, defeating the ninth-ranked Falcons of Daytona State 78-67.  The win moves SF to 11-8 on the season and is their third win in a row.

Janasia Law led a balanced scoring effort with 15 points for the Saints, and Julie Fournier, Ivana Boyd, and Stephanie Jackson had 14 points each.

The Saints will be on the road again Saturday against Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne at 2 p.m.

The SF men’s team also picked up a big win at Daytona, picking up a 76-75 win and giving the Saints their eighth consecutive victory. SF improves to 14-5 on the season and is 2-0 in Mid-Florida Conference play.

Ivan Smith hit a pair of free throws with just 0.3 seconds remaining to win the game. Darrell Jones led the winning effort with 19 points, Alsean Evans finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, Smith had 11 points, and Malik Morrow 10.

 

 

The Saints will be off until Wednesday, Jan. 17, when they host the College of Central Florida at 8 p.m. on Student Appreciation Night at the SF Gym.
