Saints Stay Perfect in Conference After Road Victory

September 28, 2017 – The Santa Fe Saints continued their undefeated run through Panhandle Conference Wednesday evening, defeating St. John’s River State College 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 20-25, 25-23) in Palatka. The victory moves SF to 5-9 overall and 3-0 in Panhandle Conference play.
SF won the first two sets, including a convincing 25-15 win in the second set to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The Vikings answered back with a win in the third set and made it a game in the fourth before eventually falling to the Saints 25-23.
Leah Wilcox led the offense with 15 kills and Aspen Dangren had 13.
“Winning on the road was a big step for our players,” said Coach Nick Cheronis. “We knew we had to take that step in order to compete for a conference championship.”
The Saints will continue in conference play on Friday, Sept. 29, at home against Florida State College-Jacksonville at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on the Saints Sports Network.
