Santa Fe College Gets High Praise from Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce
September 20, 2017
September 20, 2017 – Hurricane Irma tested Santa Fe College's students, staff and resources. The SF Emergency Management team was charged with balancing the safety of people's lives with the importance of upholding the educational integrity of the college.
Under the leadership of President Jackson Sasser, the school closed operations for more than a week so that the SF community could attend to the personal concerns in the aftermath of the storm.
The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the efforts of SF, which included being a staging area for the National Guard. The Guard used the SF gymnasium as a location to store supplies and personnel that would be allocated to the community in the recovery efforts.
The letter from Chamber President and CEO, Susan Davenport, is below.
