Special Message from the President, Dr. Jackson N. Sasser: College re-opens Monday, Sept. 18

September 17, 2017

Sept. 17, 2017 – 4 p.m.

Dear Santa Fe Family,

The Santa Fe Family will meet again when we open tomorrow, Monday, September 18.

I have waited days to confirm this good news.

We have a tradition of meeting each other at specific points of need. We have rarely gathered together with as many divergent needs. Some of us know someone who has lost everything or another who has had a specific loss. Some of us have health needs, fuel needs, a continuing lack of power, and the need to care for personal family and friends.

For all who can return tomorrow, all facilities have been returned to a safe, clean, and cool condition. I am grateful to SF professionals who have sacrificed to guarantee we can open safely.

Students and employees can use our showers in the gym on the Northwest campus. Food will be available in our food pantries, and for purchase in the Food Court and Library. Clothes will be available in our ShareWear Room, H-130 next to the Gator Den, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Also, clothing and food are available at most of our other campuses.

But as supportive as all of these services are, please remember we have students from every county in Florida. For example, we have 9 students from the Florida Keys.

May returning to a college we love begin healing from some of the most difficult experiences of our lives.

Please review the list of support activities provided by Dr. Brown and Students Services in the article "SF Saints Resource List: After Irma FAQS." Employees, of course, several of these benefits are available to us.

Jackson
