Saints Win Volleyball Home Opener over Lake Sumter 3-0

August 24, 2017

Santa Fe Volleyball players celebrate their 3-0 win over Lake Sumter Community College.

August 24, 2017 - A day after falling to NJCAA No. 4 Polk State College, the No. 16 ranked Santa Fe Saints (1-1) bounced back in a big way, sweeping Lake Sumter State College in three sets.

The Lakehawks gave the Saints a run in the first set, leading more than half way through. Some clutch service points by the Saints late in the set lead them to the 25-21 win.

The second set played out in a similar fashion but SF was able to pull away sooner on the strength of blocking and serving.

The Saints kept their foot on the gas in the third set and cruised to the 25-16 win.

SF will be home all weekend, starting Friday, Aug. 25 with a match against Palm Beach State College at 7 p.m. They will get back on the court again Saturday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. against St. Petersburg College, and again at 4:30 p.m. against Daytona State College.

Tickets are $5 for general admission. Seniors, active or retired military and children under 12 are just $3. Admission for SF students, faculty and staff is free with a valid SFID.
