Gainesville, FL – The winningest class in Santa Fe College history finished up their career at SF Field the way they started it, defeating Seminole State College 10-4 Monday afternoon. The sophomore class started their careers with a 12-5 win over Hillsborough State College in January 2016.

Kyle Morton (7-2) started the game on the hill, going 5.2 innings with six strikeouts. Ricky Miranda pitched the final 3.1 innings allowing no runs on three hits.

The SF Saints (34-11, 7-5 MFC) scored seven runs in a big second inning in seven hits and a Raider error. Danny DiMare started the frame with a triple, Leo Rodriguez also tripled in the inning, and Brandon Hernandez and Kyle Phillips doubled.

A home run by Seminole State in the third cut it to a 7-2 lead but SF answered with two runs in the bottom of the third on an error and a Phillips RBI double.

The Raiders scored a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth, but that's all they would get as Miranda shut them down the rest of the way.

Santa Fe College would add an insurance run in the eighth on a two out RBI double by Alex Goebel.

Kyle Phillips finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and a RBI. Alex Goebel was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and a run scored, and Mikey Navarrete was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.

The win leaves SF a game behind St. John's River State College in the Mid-Florida Conference standings with two to play for Santa Fe College and one for SJRSC.

The SF Saints will head out on the road on Wednesday, April 19, against Lake Sumter at 3 p.m.
