Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe College Saints (31-11, 14-4 MFC) mounted a furious rally in the ninth inning Monday afternoon in Gainesville against Florida State College-Jacksonville, scoring five runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score 5-5, sending it to extra innings.

The Bluewave got to SF starter Kyle Morton for one run in 4.1 innings and then added four against Troy Bacon, including three insurance runs in the ninth that would loom large. The four runs are one more than Bacon had surrendered all year.

FSC-J starter Eric Crawford shut the Saints out over eight innings and was removed from the game having thrown just 86 pitches. Bluewave reliever Cale Gibson struggled to get the Saints out. The first six batters reached to make the score 5-4 before FSC-J recorded an out. After there were two down, Dillon Reed came to the plate and extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single to center. More importantly it scored the fifth run to tie the game 5-5.

Two innings later The Bluewave would get to Saints relievers Mitch Campion and Chris Hopkins, scoring four runs to put the game away.

Danny DiMare continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-5 with a double and Alex Goebel and Brandon Hernandez had two hits each.

The Santa Fe College Saints will take a few days off before returning to the diamond at home against St. John's River State College on Friday, April 14, at 3 p.m. The SF Saints now trail the Vikings (15-4 MFC) by one game in the race for the Mid-Florida Conference title.
