SF BASEBALL: Saints Fly Past Falcons, 15-2
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe College Saints offense was back in full swing Friday afternoon, putting 15 runs on the board in a 15-2 victory in seven innings over Daytona State in the rubber match of the three game series. It's the second time in three games that the Saints run ruled DSC. SF won Monday in Gainesville 14-4 in seven innings.
Dillon Reed continued his torrid pace, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and two stolen bases to lead the offensive onslaught.
Santa Fe College jumped on the Falcons in the first inning, sending nine runners to the plate, putting four runs across. Stephen Smith delivered the big blow, smashing his fourth homerun of the year, a two run shot to right field.
In the second Santa Fe College batted around again, this time scoring five runs on five hits to make it 9-1. Danny DiMare drove in four runs in the first two innings on a single and a triple.
Reed, Wyatt Meisterhans, and Stephen Smith all drove in runs in the fifth to push the lead out to 13-2 and SF added two more runs in the sixth on a RBI single by Zuriel Collins.
Sean Gabel started the game on the hill and tossed six solid innings, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts. Mitch Campion finished the game with one inning of relief.
DiMare finished 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI, Wyatt Meisterhans was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles and two RBI and Brandon Hernandez was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The win moves the Saints back into first place in the Mid-Florida Conference. They are now 31-10 overall and 14-4 in the MFC.
SF will battle Florida State College-Jacksonville Monday, April 10, in Gainesville at 3 p.m.
