Daytona Gets Win Over Saints, 9-3

Gainesville, FL – Two days after the Santa Fe College Saints mercy ruled Daytona State College, the Falcons showed they still had some fight, defeating SF 9-3 in Daytona Beach. The win was big for DSC as it keeps them in contention for third place in the Mid-Florida Conference and a shot at the FCSAA Tournament.

The score was tied 2-2 in the fourth when Daytona State unloaded five runs on six hits and a SF error. All five runs scored came with two outs.

Falcons pitching locked the Saints down the rest of the way to pick up the big MFC win.

Robert Girgis started on the hill and took the loss, tossing 3.2 innings.

Alex Goebel had three hits for Santa Fe College and Brandon Hernandez and Dillon Reed had two each. Jeff Misener drove in a pair of runs.

The loss drops FCSAA #3 SF to 30-10 and 13-4 in conference play. Daytona improves to 18-16 overall and 9-8 in the MFC, good enough for third place.

The Saints and Falcons will play the rubber match of their three-game series Friday in Gainesville at 3 p.m. Fans can watch live on the Saints Sports Network.
