SAINTS STIFLE DAYTONA STATE, 1-0 AND 1-0

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe College Saints (24-13, 8-6 MFC) did just enough Thursday afternoon against Daytona State College, sweeping the Falcons by identical 1-0 scores in Gainesville. Brielle Morichetti was lights out in the circle for SF in game one, holding DSC to three hits. She kept the ball down and forced 14 ground outs out of 21 total outs.

Shailynn Morales was intentionally walked twice by the Falcons in the first game, but when they did pitch to her she doubled down the left field line in the third and then scored on a single by Adrix Paradizo-Ramos and a bobble by the right fielder. This would prove to be the winning run as Morichetti locked down the Falcons batters the rest of the game to secure the 1-0 win. SF won despite leaving 11 runners on base.

Game two followed the same format with Santa Fe scoring a single run in the second and having it hold up. Raelye Rouw singled home Adrix Paradizo-Ramos for the only run of the game for either team.

Autumn Green earned the win with 5.2 innings of relief. The two shutouts give the Saints six on the season.

Santa Fe pitchers held Falcons batters to 6-for-49 hitting on the day.

The two wins move SF into a tie for third place in the Mid-Florida Conference with Daytona State.

The Saints will play a non-conference double header Sunday, April 2, against Hillsborough CC at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.. Follow live stats here.
