Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe College first baseman Leo Rodriguez had a monster day at the plate Monday afternoon in Sanford for the NJCAA #15/FCSAA #3 Santa Fe Saints, blasting a home run along with two other hits in a five RBI effort. In all, the SF Saints (26-9, 9-3 MFC) pounded out 15 hits, five homeruns, and scored 14 runs to clinch the three-game series against Seminole State College.

Big innings were the name of the game for SF as they plated three in the second and four in the third to jump ahead 7-1 early on. Stephen Smith hit the first of five SF homeruns in the second to open the scoring. Seminole tried to get back in it with two in the fourth and a run in the fifth to make it a 7-4 game, but another four spot in the sixth courtesy of two run homers from Wyatt Meisterhans and Brandon Hernandez made it an 11-4 contest. A two-run Rodriguez homer in the eighth and a solo shot by Kyle Phillips rounded out the scoring.

Ricky Miranda picked up the win on the hill with three scoreless innings in relief of Sean Gabel to move to 4-0 on the season. Gabel tossed 4.2 innings, Chris Budden finished off the final out of the eighth, and Chris Hopkins pitched a perfect ninth.
