SF Baseball: NJCAA #15 Saints Finish Three Game Sweep of CF, 9-4

Gainesville, FL – Kyle Phillips and Wyatt Meisterhans both homered for the nationally ranked Santa Fe College Saints Wednesday in Gainesville, helping NJCAA #15/FCSAA #3 SF to their third straight win over the College of Central Florida, 9-4. Ricky Miranda (4-0) went 3.1 innings in relief of Sean Gabel to pick up the win. The victory keeps Santa Fe on top of the midFlorida Conference standings.
Five Saints had multiple hits for an SF offense that produced nine runs on 14 hits.
After surrendering a run in the first the Saints scored two in the bottom of the inning to grab the lead, one they wouldn't surrender. In the third, SF padded their lead with six runs on four hits. Kyle Phillips and Wyatt Meisterhans homered on back to back pitches in the inning.
David Flores hit a two-run homer for the Patriots in the fourth to make it an 8-3 lead for Santa Fe College.
The Saints (24-8, 7-2 MFC) added another insurance run in the seventh on a RBI double and CF plated their last run in the eighth to end the scoring.
Meisterhans lead the offense with three hits and a homerun. Stephen Smith, Alex Goebel, Brandon Hernandez, and Mikey Navarrete all had two hits each.
The Saints will open a three-game set with Seminole State College Friday, March 24, in Sanford at 3 p.m. The two teams will meet in Gainesville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
