Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (17-6, 2-0 MFC) used an eight run seventh inning to turn a tie game into a comfortable win on Friday afternoon in Gainesville, defeating Florida State College-Jacksonville 12-4 for their second straight MFC win and sixth in in a row overall.

Bluewave errors led to three of the Saints first four runs as they jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fifth after a slow start by both teams.

Santa Fe starter Robert Girgis was his normal efficient self, but ran into some trouble in the seventh. FSC-J (10-12, 0-2 MFC) scrapped their way back to a tie, knotting it up at 4-4.

Saints reliever Ricky Miranda shut things down from there, holding the Bluewave scoreless the rest of the way to earn the win. The offense answered the bell in the bottom of the seventh, plating eight runs on six hits, sending 13 batters to the plate.

Kyle Phillips picked up two hits in the inning, knocking in a pair of runs in his second at bat. The would be winning run came across on a bases loaded walk to Dillon Reed, Brandon Hernandez followed with a RBI single and pinch hitter Jeff Misener delivered the big blow, knocking the first pitch her saw into the left center field gap to score a pair. Phillips, Wyatt Meisterhans, and Stephen Smith all followed with two out hits to blow the game open.

Phillips finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. He's now 11-for-19 since returning from injury. Brandon Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI, and Mikey Navarrette was 1-for-4 with a RBI.

The Saints and Bluewave will play again on Saturday, March 4 in Jacksonville at 1:00 PM.
