SF FASTPITCH: SAINTS TAKE GAME ONE AGAINST TCC 4-3, DROP GAME TWO 2-1

February 24, 2017

Gainesville, FL – The FCSAA #10 Santa Fe College Saints rallied from a 3-0 deficit in game one of a double header at #7 Tallahassee CC Thursday afternoon, winning it in extra innings 4-3 to pick up a big road victory. The Eagles bounced back in game two to take it 2-1.

Cindy Benson provided the first half of the heroics in the first game, knocking in the tying run with a two out pinch hit single in the seventh inning. One inning later Shailynn Morales delivered the go ahead single to put SF up 4-3.

In the bottom of the eighth TCC put runners on first and third with no outs. After a pop out and a wild pitch that moved the runner at first to second base, the next batter lined out to center and the runner at third was thrown out trying to score, ending the game.

Autumn Green picked up the win in the circle with 5.2 innings of scoreless two hit ball.

TCC stifled the Saints offense in game two, holding them to one run on four hits. The lone run came on a Haissette Escuerdo homerun.

The Saints next games will be on the road Saturday, Feb. 25 at State College of Florida at 1:00 and 3 p.m.
