SF BASEBALL NJCAA #8 SAINTS WIN SLUG FEST OVER ST. PETE, 11-6

February 9, 2017

Gainesville, FL – An eight run second inning for the Santa Fe Saints Wednesday afternoon against St. Petersburg College proved to be the difference in a high scoring game in Clearwater, pacing NJCAA #8/FCSAA #2 SF (7-3) to an 11-6 win over the Titans in Clearwater.

Robert Girgis went five strong innings on the hill, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Ricky Miranda finished the game off with four innings of two runs ball, just one of them earned. The two pitchers worked around four Santa Fe errors.

The SF offense picked up a run in the first on a sacrifice fly by Dillon Reed, and exploded for eight runs in the second. The big blow sin the inning came on an Alex Goebel grand slam and a two run shot by Wyatt Meisterhans.

A run in the fifth and a run in the sixth gave SF all the insurance they would need.

Alex Goebel finished the game 3-for-5 from the three spot in the lineup, with a homerun and four RBI, Meisterhans was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI, Danny Dimare was 2-for-2 with a RBI, and Brandon Hernandez was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

Santa Fe College's next game will be at home Friday at 3 p.m. against Pensacola State College.
