SF BASEBALL SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLE HEADER WITH SOUTH FLORIDA STATE

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints took game one of a double header in come from behind fashion, winning in extra innings 5-4 before dropping the second game 4-2 to the Panthers.
Wyatt Meisterhans was the hero in the first game, knocking in the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI single, backing up strong efforts in relief by Ricky Miranda and Troy Bacon (1-0).
The Saints (5-3) trailed 4-2 heading into the sixth after a four run fourth inning for SFSC. Brandon Hernandez and Dillon Reed came through for NJCAA #8 Santa Fe College, knocking in a pair of runs to tie the score 4-4, setting the table for Meisterhans heroics in extra innings.
The second game was all South Florida out of the gates. The Panthers put up a three spot in the first on SF pitcher Mitch Campion and never trailed. Campion, making his second start of the year improved as the game went on, finishing with six innings pitched, four hits allowed and nine strikeouts.
The Saints will hit the road Monday for a game against Tallahassee CC at 3 p.m.
