Nick Cheronis Named Region Coach of the Year

Santa Fe College Head Coach Nick Cheronis was recently rewarded, for the Saints efforts in 2016, with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Southeast Region Coach of the Year award for two-year college coaches. He is one of eight finalists for AVCA National Coach of the Year.

Cheronis has been coaching for 34 years, with the last three at Santa Fe College…District M (Region 8a) Champions…Earned a No. 8 seed in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament…Defeated Arizona Western (No. 9) and upset top-seeded Panola in the Tournament (finished fourth). Their fourth place finish is best in program history…Held opponents to a .180 hitting percentage…Cheronis takes home AVCA Region Coach of the Year honors for the first time.
