Darrell Jones Leads Santa Fe College Saints Past Indian River Pioneers 84-71

Santa Fe College freshman Darrell Jones scored a season high 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds Tuesday afternoon off the bench for Santa Fe College as the Saints rolled past Indian River State College 84-71 for their fifth straight win. SF led by as many as 24 in the second half.
Indian River started the game hot, leading 14-8 six minutes into the game. Darrell Jones proved to be the difference over the final eight minutes of the first half, swinging the momentum and the score in the Saints favor. He finished with 12 first half points, six of them over the final six minutes.
Santa Fe College exploded out of the gates in the second half, going on a 19-3 run to build their lead to 55-31 with 13 minutes to play.
The Pioneers slowly chipped away at the margin and got it as close as eight, but Santa Fe College made enough of their free throws down the stretch to secure the 13-point win.
Five players scored in double figures for SF, led by the 18 from Darrell Jones. Lazar Djurkovic put up a season high 14, David-Lee Jones had 13, Sean Dinkins 13 and D-Juan Taylor-Hodge 11.
As a team, the Saints forced 21 turnovers and dished out 18 assists, lead by eight from David-Lee Jones and four from Josh Hawkins.
Next up for the Saints is a road game at Florida Southwestern State College on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.
