Women's Basketball Dominates in Season Opener

The Santa Fe Saints (1-0) came out in their season opener and sent a message, jumping out to 25-0 lead over Webber International University in the first seven minutes of the game and led 29-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Ari Emanuel-Wright led the Saints with seven first quarter points. SF dominated on
the glass over the first 10 minutes, out rebounding the Warriors 18-6
The Warriors played even with the Saints over the rest of the first half, but still
trailed 54-25 at the break.
The Saints played their best offensive quarter of the game in the third quarter, putting
up 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting to stretch their lead 84-41.
In the fourth SF stepped their defense up and held Webber to just eight points, finishing
off the 56 point victory.
Five players finished in double figures, including a game high 18 points and 10 rebounds from Evelina Avleeva. Ari Emanuel-Wright and Corey Staples finished with 15 each, Rayven Wade had 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Moneisha Goldsborough scored 10 points to go with eight boards. Tabitha Odabe had the best game of her career, finishing with eight points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks.
As a team, the Saints shot 51.2% from the field and 38.5% from the three point line
(10-of-26). SF outrebounded the Warriors 61-23.
The Saints will take about a week off before returning to the court on November 9
against IMG Academy at 5:30 PM in Gainesville.
