"Boo at the Zoo" a Huge Success!

November 2, 2016

This Halloween, Santa Fe's 22nd-annual "Boo at the Zoo" hosted about 6,000 kids and their parents as they walked one of the trails through the zoo to collect candy from a host of costumed characters. The mile-long trail was transformed into 14 themed areas, including "Toy Story," "Jurassic Park," "Scooby Doo" and "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory."

The event, around now for more than two decades, was brought about by students in Santa Fe College's Zoo Animal Technology Program as a way to give to the community. In place of an admission fee, attendees were asked to bring a single canned good. The cans collected were then given to Gainesville Harvest and Catholic Charities, which feed students and families in need.
