SAINTS OPEN FALL BALL ON A HIGH NOTE
September 20, 2016
The Santa Fe Saints opened their fall scrimmage season on Saturday, September 17 and got things off to a good start, winning all four without allowing a single run to the First Coast Fire or the Osceola Overdrive.
"I thought our pitchers all threw the ball very well today, and they were backed up by a good defense," said SF Coach Chris Ahern. "Sometimes there may be some jitters in the first games of the year, but our players did a nice job playing fundamental and made the plays in front of them."
The Saints committed just two errors on the day, despite having many players making their collegiate debut.
Natalia Bellinger led the offense with multiple hits, including a deep homerun to center field. Other players with multiple hits on the day included: Bailee Moll, Shailynn Morales, Raelye Rouw, and Adrix Paradiso.
The Saints will continue Fall Ball on the road Friday, September 23 when they face off against NCAA Division one foe the University of North Florida in Jacksonville at 5:00 PM.
SF will be home for fall games on October 1, 8, 14, 15, 29, and November 5. They will wrap things up in Tampa against the University of South Florida on November 6 at 1:00 PM. For a full schedule, click here
