DESPITE STORM, SAINTS SPLIT A PAIR OF MATCHES THIS PAST SATURDAY

The FCSAA #5 Santa Fe Saints (4-4) split a pair of matches on Saturday in Cocoa, defeating South Florida State College in five sets and fell to FCSAA #1 Polk State in straight sets.

The Saints dropped the first two sets against the Panthers of SFSC but rebounded to win the final three, showing some resiliency early in the season. Sterling Williamson led the way with 16 kills and Nadine Williams had 12 kills. Meraiah Hill was a force at the net, blocking 10. Final score line: 17-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 15-11.saints

In their second match, SF faced off against the best the state of Florida has to offer and took a tough loss, dropping three in a row to Polk State 17-25, 22-25, 16-25.

Williams had 10 kills and Ashton Marshall had 14 digs. "We have some serious work to do in order to compete with the better teams in our state, but I know this group will put the work in," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis.

The Saints will remain on the road tomorrow, Wednesday, September 7 against Pasco Hernando State College at 6:00 PM.
