EXTRA Shuttle Available to Students in Rural Areas With Transportation Needs

Santa Fe College will offer free shuttle services to eligible current or prospective students in Archer, Newberry, High Springs, the city of Alachua, Starke and Waldo started Aug. 22, the first day of fall classes.
The shuttle will provides round-trip transportation to the main campus Monday through Friday for eligible current and prospective students pursuing programs not offered at Santa Fe's rural centers. It will picks up students in the morning at designated stops with dropoffs at main campus at 8:50 a.m. at building S. In the afternoon, all the routes leave campus at 3:30 p.m.
Dr. Naima Brown, vice president of student affairs at Santa Fe College, said the free Express Transportation to Rural Areas, or EXTRA, shuttle is a pilot program designed to improve access to higher education for rural residents. The EXTRA Shuttle is funded by student transportation access fees. To apply for the shuttle service or to get transportation vouchers for other systems, go to www.sfcollege.edu/extra
The Archer/Newberry route will picks up students in Archer at 8 a.m. at the Davis Center, 17500 SW Archer Road, and at Newberry at 8:20 a.m. at the Newberry Community Center.
The High Springs/Alachua route will picks up students in High Springs at 8:15 a.m. at the High Springs Community Center-Museum, 120 NW Second Ave.,and in Alachua at 8:25 a.m. at Hitchcock's Plaza, 15560 NW U.S. 441.
The Starke/Waldo route will picks up students in Starke at 7:50 a.m. at the Andrews Center, 209 W. Call St., and at Waldo at 8:15 a.m. at the Waldo City Park, 2302 Waldo Road.
