Fine Arts Department 2016-2017 Performance Schedule Ready For Viewing

Mark your calendars now! Most events are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Hall, where tickets are $15 for adults in the orchestra section and $12 in the balcony; tickets for UF students, seniors over 60, and children under 12 are $9; and tickets for Santa Fe College students, faculty, and staff are free with a valid SF College identification card. Sept. 9 – Pianist Mitch McKay in concert
Sept, 16-17 – Master Artist Series gospel and R&B performance by singer/songwriter Avery*Sunshine with two local gospel choirs
Sept. 29– Winds and Classics The SF Wind Ensemble, directed by Professor Steve Bingham, performs band arrangements of music by famous European composers.
Oct. 13-15 – SF Theatre Department production to be announced
Oct. 28 – Florida Dance Association Young Dancers Workshop Showcase "A"
Oct. 29 – Florida Dance Association Young Dancer Workshop Showcase "B"
Nov. 2-5 – Florida Theatre Conference
Nov. 9 – Dancing Through Time, Dance Theatre of Santa Fe
Nov. 17 – An Evening of Jazz The Santa Fe Big Band, Jazz Combo, and Rhythm & Blues Band, directed by Professor Steve Bingham, perform traditional jazz arrangements.
Dec. 1 – Songs for the Season Professor Lynn Sandefur directs the Santa Fe Singers in an evening of holiday music certain to delight audience members of all ages. The concert also features a variety of percussion sounds and rhythms directed by Professor Steve Bingham. A family holiday tradition!
Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. – A Children's Holiday at Santa Fe – Enjoy a fun-filled day in the Fine Arts Hall with kid-friendly crafts and refreshments in the lobby, a great musical performance in the theatre, and a chance to meet Santa Claus after a bit of winter wonderland magic. Another holiday tradition for the whole family!

Jan. 20 – Beatrice Coron – Artist TED Talk
Jan. 21 – Chuchito Valdes in concert
Feb. 3 – Dance of My Heart, documentary film honoring two icons of the dance world, choreographer Alberto Alonso and prima ballerina Maya Plisetskaya. Panel discussion follows with film editor Ricardo Acosta and Latin dance star Sonia Calero, Alonso's wife.
Feb. 8-11 – Master Artist Series performance: Joffrey Ballet Concert Group and Santa Fe College present Alberto Alonso's Carmen Suite
Feb. 14 – Valentine's Day Swing Dance – A swing dance class at 6:30 p.m. followed by the sounds of the Santa Fe Big Band at 7:30 p.m. Dance the night away in the lobby of the Fine Arts Hall!
Feb. 17-18 – Master Artist Series performance by pianist Stephen Beus
Feb. 23 – Winds Go Pop band concert (in Building E Auditorium)
Mar. 24-25 – Elements of Style – Dance Theatre of Santa Fe performs works in a variety of styles created by guest artists and SF dance faculty.
Apr. 4 – Spring Winds and Drums (Building E Auditorium)
Apr. 6 – Piano student recital
Apr. 7 – Jazz Up Spring A cool concert of hot jazz features the Santa Fe Jazz Band under the direction of Professor Steve Bingham.
Apr. 20 – Sing Into Spring, a light and entertaining choral concert directed by Professor Lynn Sandefur
May 18-19 – Room to Dance, a student-choreographed dance performance
Jun. 8-10 and 15-17 – Summer musical theatre performance to be announced
Events are sponsored by combinations of funding from the SF College Fine Arts Department; SF College Student Life; the SF College Foundation and Arts Patron program; the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture; and Visit Gainesville, a Tourist Development Tax Grant from the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners in conjunction with the Alachua County Tourist Development Council.
