Saints Fastpitch shuts out South Florida 2-0

February 8, 2016

Autumn Green was a force on the mound in the first half of a double header against South Florida State College on Saturday afternoon, and Lauren Bolander smashed a deep home run to help pace the Saints past the Panthers 2-1. The second half of the double header was called in the fourth inning due to rain and unsafe field conditions. The game will not be made up and is not considered an official game.

Green went the distance in game one, striking out five and allowing just three hits. Bolander nailed the first homerun of her collegiate career to put SF (4-2) ahead 1-0 in the third, and the Saints added a run in the fourth on a Panther error. That was more than enough for Green who cruised to her second win of the season.

Game two was in the fourth inning when the umpires met and decided the field conditions were unsuitable to continue, and the game was called.

The Saints will hit the road on Tuesday, Feb. 9, for a double header against St. Petersburg College at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.. The two teams split a double header in Gainesville on Friday.
