Retiree Jimmy Mercer passes away
February 3, 2016
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our former colleague, Jimmy Mercer. Jimmy retired from Santa Fe College in January 2014. He started at Santa Fe College in July 1981 as the Manager of Materials Production where he worked for four years. He moved out of town for thirteen years but Jimmy returned to Santa Fe College in April 1998 and worked in Printing Services. In July 2008, he joined the library where he mastered a complete new list of responsibilities and worked until his retirement.
Jimmy was a friend, valued colleague and the one you never had to ask for help because he'd already be at your side doing whatever had to be done. We've received many kudos for his level of customer service during the years he was in charge of Interlibrary Loan Activities. We remember Jimmy for his dedicated service to the college and to his colleagues – and for his love of motorcycles, fishing and good food.
Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers on behalf of his family. A memorial service will be held this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church on SR 20 (east of Grove Park and before you get to Hawthorne).
