Florida Theater Conference celebrates its 60th Anniversary at Santa Fe College Nov. 11-14
November 9, 2015
Santa Fe College will again host over 2,000 theatre students, community participants and enthusiasts of theatre and the arts in Florida at the annual Florida Theatre Conference (FTC) Festival Nov. 11-14, making it the largest conference on campus. This year, FTC will celebrate its 60 anniversary over three and a half days of stimulating performing arts festivities committed to divisions in High School, Theatre for Youth and Middle School Community Theatre Play Festivals. The DraMature Division will offer a creative showcase, with over 65 workshops, including singing, acting, pantomime, dance, stage combat, directing, play writing and all technical areas of the stage.
High school and college transfer students have the opportunity to audition for over forty-five nationwide colleges and universities in attendance, followed by personal interviews at the College Fair. College and university students have the opportunity to gain access to the professional world of theatre by competing for advancement to the Southeast Theatre Conference's spring festival.
Registered guests enjoy full access to all five play festivals, workshops, and the College Fair. Vendor Expo and day passes are available for friends and family to watch the play festivals and attend the closing ceremonies in a celebration of the festival with a high school slide show presentation, awards and more.
Santa Fe College has dedicated three theatres and specialized performing arts workspaces, and guests will find a food court, lush grounds and ample free parking on the walking accessible campus that offers many activities that groups are encouraged to take advantage of. Additionally, guests can book nearby hotels where FTC has blocked rooms to ensure reasonable rates, with transportation to and from campus being provided by both host hotels.
"We are so excited to be hosting again for the 5 year for this 60 anniversary golden jubilee which promises to have the most workshops, largest college fair attendance and growth in all divisions," said Terry Klenk, Santa Fe College professor of theatre and Secretary/Treasurer of FTC. "Come out and celebrate this momentous occasion with us. We make theatre live!"
