October 19, 2015
The FCSAA #2/NJCAA #8 Santa Fe Saints (18-5, 6-2 MFC) dropped a tough five set match to Daytona State College on Thursday night, struggling over the final two sets after taking a 2-1 lead. The Falcons upped their game after falling behind and won set four 25-19, and cruised in set five 15-4.
"We ran into a freight train in sets four and five," said SF Head Coach Nick Cheronis. "Our team has to learn to play aggressively against the good teams in our league."
The Saints fell behind in the first set but fought back to win sets two and three in commanding fashion before the Falcons stepped up and won the last two.
Nadine Williams led SF players with 16 kills, Julie Fuchs had 10 kills, and Kaylin Powell had nine kills and five blocks.
Santa Fe and Daytona State now share second place in the MFC, one game behind the College of Central Florida. The Saints will host CF on the last regular season conference game of the season on October 22.
Next up for SF is a road match against Lake Sumter State College on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.
