Please join us for the second lecture in the SF2UF Bridge series.
Dr. Carlos Rinaldi, Professor in Biomedical and Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida will discuss the role of "smart" materials, such as magnetic nanoparticles and ferrofluids in cancer therapy. Dr. Rinaldi completed his undergraduate education at the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez and earned his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has won numerous honors and awards and also holds the Charles A. Stokes Professorship in Chemical Engineering.
Dr. Rinaldi will present his biomedical research on the use and applications of smart materials. It will include the discussion of biosensors and targeted delivery and release of drugs. In addition, he will talk about ways in which undergraduate students can get involved in research and will share his personal journey as a chemical and biomedical engineer.
