September 21, 2015

The Santa Fe Saints continued their dominance of top teams, defeating the defending FCSAA State champion Miami Dade College Sharks' on their home court, and picked up another win over NJCAA #10 Palm Beach State College, their second this season.

Santa Fe (13-2) started the day by defeating the defending state champs in five sets after falling behind 2-1. The Saints dominated the final two sets, winning 25-17 and 15-8.

Nadine Williams led the way with 17 kills, and Julie Fuchs and Sheyanne Sullivan. Kasey Valentin came up big from behind the service line, serving four aces as well as a six point run in the fourth set to rally SF for the win.

The Saints then faced off against Palm Beach and Nadine Williams dominated, collecting 22 kills in the three-set victory. Kelly Collins was stellar on the defensive side, digging 22 Palm Beach attacks.

"If you would have told me at the beginning that we were going to play three top 20 teams and an improving Miami Dade team and go 3-1, I would've taken it," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis. "Hats off to the players who were gutty all weekend."

The Saints will now open Mid-Florida Conference play on the road against St. John's River State College on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in Palatka.
