September 15, 2015
Artist Turbado Marabou will be featured in a month-long exhibition called, "One Path Many Crossroads." The show will feature new and past works illustrating his folklorist approach to Surregionalism, a term created by Marabou to describe the coalescing of psychological components, surrealism and the culture, folklore, history and community aspects of regionalism.
The opening reception will be held Friday, Sept. 25, from 7-9 p.m., at the Santa Fe College Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED), 530 W. University Ave., Gainesville. The closing reception will feature workshop participant's projects on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 from 7-9 p.m., also at the CIED.
Turbado will lead two workshops in coordination with the event that purpose to enhance creativity and remove creative blocks. Power of Line Beginning Drawing will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m-5 p.m. In this workshop, students will learn the Marabou Method of drawing through instruction on technique, range of motion, good habits and understanding of the elements and principles of design rather than talent alone.
Out of Many Comes One Beginning Collage will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. In this workshop, students will explore the thought process of collage work, an age-old process of creativity using assorted materials, and how it relates to environmental materials.
The cost for each workshop is $100 or $125 with supplies. Students should inquire about discounts. Marabou can be contacted at 352-256-1903 or dpwellspring@gmail.com.
