September 10, 2015
Another match with Pasco Hernando and another five set classic between the Saints and Conquistadors took place Wednesday evening, with SF coming out on top to improve to 6-1 in New Port Richey.
The Saints jumped on PHSC by winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-16. The Conquistadors didn't quit and rallied back, winning sets three and four 25-17 and 25-22. In the fifth and deciding set, SF pulled away for the 15-9 win, sealing the victory.
Nadine Williams racked up 21 kills and 25 digs to lead the way, putting together the complete match of her young freshman campaign. Freshman Sheyanne Sullivan was equally as impressive, piling up 18 kills and 23 digs. Buchholz graduate Kelly Collins had a team high 28 digs. Sophomore Jane Early was a force in the middle with 10 blocks, setting a single-game school record in the process.
"Our freshman carried us tonight", said SF Coach Nick Cheronis. "Williams and Sullivan were superb on the left side and Collins was a digging machine and passed every serve that came her way."
The Saints will return home on Saturday, September 12 for a double header against Palm Beach State College at 10 a.m. and South Florida State College at 2:00 PM. Palm Beach and South Florida will also play at 12 noon. Both Santa Fe games can be seen live on NJCAA TV at www.santafesaints.com.
