Please join us for Fall Convocation
August 3, 2015
Dear Santa Fe Family,
I hope your summer has been a time of renewal and enjoyment that will be a precursor to what I anticipate will be the college's best year ever for intellectual exploration and service. On Friday, August 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts Hall, we begin a year anchored in the realization that the college is 50 years old. For first-time and returning students we have the opportunity to open new doors of academic understanding and job opportunities they have never imagined before.
On a practical matter, as promised in my annual presentation of the college budget on July 20, I will present to you the final budget in my state-of-the-college address. This has been the most fluid financial year since I joined you in 2002. The performance allocation has been set, the funds for our winning the Aspen Prize have been approved, and the only major piece of information still unknown is what our fall enrollment will be. By August 21, I will have more conclusive information in this critical area.
We have had important convocations replete with celebrations and challenge, I know of none that holds more potential than this one beginning our 2015-2016 academic year.
